At SMART CJS, we are committed to providing training for all of our staff.
We encourage and support staff to look for new learning initiatives, within and outside our organisation; and value SMART staff developing their own competencies, and fulfilling their own personal development plans.
As we believe in staff building a professional career, in the drugs and alcohol field, front-line staff are recruited with a commitment to developing specific skills. To enable this SMART has its own training programme for staff.
The programme is made up of two module courses: Substance Misuse Treatment Intervention and Enhanced Motivational Interviewing. Benefitting from a structured learning environment, successful completion of the module course(s), give student staff 40 credit points and 20 credit points, respectively, towards a higher degree qualification.
This training programme is delivered in partnersip with Thames Valley University, and is entirely DANOS accredited. All jobs, in the substance misuse field, are mapped against Drug and Alcohol National Occupational Standards (DANOS).
