Twenty Four Hours a day, Seven Days a week
SMART has a telephone helpline which provides a confidential and easily accessible first point of contact for clients. It can offer information on harm reduction, services in the locality and how to get referral to detox.
The 24-7 helpline operates in Buckinghamshire and is used by both professionals, who are seeking information on service availablity, and clients who are leaving prison or treatment.
Clients are assessed over the telephone and given an appointment to see a SMART worker the following day, to start the process of referring to agencies.
The 24-7 service is part of the Drug Intervention Programme strategy, and funded by the Buckinghamshire Drug and Alcohol Action Team.
All calls from landline telephones are free, but charges will be made to mobile numbers.
