Smart - About Us

About Us

How you can help us

The impact of drug and alcohol misuse on us and our communities is wide-ranging.  It is estimated that one in five of us will be affected by drug or alcohol misuse at some point in our lives.  Our experiences will range from supporting loved ones or friends, to being the victim of a crime committed by someone to fund an addiction.

By empowering individuals to break the cycle of addiction, we can help them transform their future, and lead fulfilling and rewarding lives.  SMART worked with over 3,000 people across the Thames Valley in 2008.  The cost of providing our core work is financed by funding received for delivering contracts and from fundraising.

Any additional monies donated to SMART will be used to enhance the core business of supporting individuals affected by drug and alcohol use on projects such as family and carers support, The Portal Programme, and Mentoring Programme

Volunteer with us

The SMART Mentoring programme is a unique facility which offers support to current service users by volunteers.  It provides skills and knowledge to people, including those with previous drug and offending records, who want to turn their experiences into something positive and life enhancing.  Find out more about volunteering as a Mentor by visiting our Mentoring Programme Pages
