SMART CJS is a registered charity that was first established in 1996 to provide an Arrest Referral Service to the Thames Valley Police. Our inception, and subsequent growth, has been driven by the same core values that bind us today. These can be summarised as a collective desire to effect positive changes in our clients, who have substance misuse issues.

This central tenet, combined with our understanding of our client group, and commitment to progress, has resulted in the development of a range of drug services, that now cover the whole of the Thames Valley region. SMART has a strong user involvement philosophy. Every service that we have developed has been as a direct result of identified client needs.   

In this, our twelfth year, we are able to reflect back on our achievements with great pride and confidence. SMART's contribution, to tackling substance misuse, has greatly benefited every community we serve, and each individual who has had any meaningful contact with our services.
